In July 2010 a session entitled "Discovering Judaism and receptive Christians" was organized at The Melleray, near Nantes (see Sens No. 370 - June 2012). In July 2012, a second session entitled "Discovering Judaism" was held at La Hublais, near Rennes. We publish here the main lectures of this session.
Three sets were gathered in this issue. First, a series of lectures on the Torah (Father Michel Remaud and Rabbi Philippe Haddad) on Jewish ethics according to Qohelet (Albert Bensoussan) and the notion of Election (Mgr Ornelas, Archbishop of Rennes). This set ends with the homily of Bishop Ornelas given at the end of the session, during the mass of July, 22.
The second set consists of three accounts. One from Minister Florence Taubman on the Jewish-Protestant dialogue. One from Sandrine Caneri on Jewish-Orthodox dialogue. And one from Stéphanie Dassa on her own involvement in the Jewish-Christian dialogue.
The third set contains a conference by Claude Toczé on the "Vel d’Hiv round-up" and its impact in Brittany, 70 years ago, and some lectures that were made at the Synagogue of Rennes, during a commemoration of the event.
In addition, a tribute was paid to Ruth Weyl, former secretary of the International Council of Christians and Jews. She died on May, the 12th 2013.
In the book section, Bruno Charmet gives a review of the book that publishes interviews of Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio (Pope Francis) with Rabbi Abraham Skorka : On earth as in heaven (R. Laffont, 2013, translated into French).
