SENS N°365 – January 2012 – Symposium of the CRIF at Jerusalem and Tiberias (I)

SENS #365

In March 2010, the CRIF’s Commission for Relations with the Christian Churches (Representative Council of Jews in France) held a symposium to promote a dialogue between Jews and Christians in Israel, "in this land where it all began". The symposium took place in Jerusalem and Tiberias. It was chaired by Gérard Israël.

Sens publishes here the first part of the proceedings of this symposium. Lectures related to the situation of Christians in the Holy Land (Bishop Marcuzzo, Catherine Dupeyron, Brother Louis-Marie and Hadad Souad), the problem of the Holy Places (Father Pizzaballa, Custodian) and pilgrimage (Jean-Marie Allafort) are gathered in this issue. Two reflections (Rabbi Epstein on Israeli society and its religious expression ; Baheej Mansour on minorities in Israel) complete the issue.

This issue also includes the speeches delivered by Cardinal André Vingt-Trois, Cardinal Kurt Koch (President of the Pontifical Council for Religious Relations with Judaism), the Chief Rabbi of France, Gilles Bernheim, and Cardinal Philippe Barbarin at the 21st meeting of the International Catholic-Jewish Liaison Committee, which took place in Paris in February-March 2011.
